Diskscape — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

Diskscape is a Mac app that draws the contents of a folder you choose as a treemap, so you can see what is using your disk.

What we collect

Nothing. Diskscape has no accounts, no ads, no tracking, no analytics and no third-party SDKs. It does not send us your file names, folder names, sizes, or anything else. We have no server that receives data from this app, so there is nothing for us to store, sell or lose.

What the app reads on your Mac

When you choose a folder, Diskscape reads the names, sizes, kinds and modification dates of the files and folders inside it, in order to draw the map. It never opens or reads the contents of your files. All of this happens on your Mac, in memory, and is discarded when you quit or scan somewhere else.

The app is sandboxed and can only read folders you explicitly grant it, by choosing them in the open panel or by dropping them on the window. macOS remembers that grant for you so you do not have to pick the folder again; that bookmark is stored on your Mac only.

Network

Diskscape makes no network requests of its own. Subscription purchases and restores are handled entirely by Apple's App Store, and Apple's own privacy policy applies to those. We never see your Apple Account.

Deleting files

When you move something to the Trash from inside Diskscape, macOS moves it to your Trash, where you can put it back. Diskscape never deletes anything permanently and never deletes anything you did not ask it to.

Children

Diskscape is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
